A brace from Samuel Onyango and goal each from Boniface Omondi and Nicholas Kipkirui were enough to help K'Ogalo recover from Sunday's loss to Kakamega Homeboyz.
A dominant Gor Mahia started the game on the attack but waited until the 19th minute to create a meaningful goalscoring chance. Clifton Miheso managed to beat Chemelil Sugar's goalkeeper Daniel Kiptoo but his final shot flew over the bar.
In the 20th, minute, the KPL champions took the lead when Onyango finally managed to beat a hitherto firm Kiptoo in the hosts' goal. The goalkeeper had kept numerous Gor Mahia attempts on goal at bay but he could not manage to stop the shot by the former Ulinzi Stars winger.
Kenneth Muguna could have actually made it 2-0 in the 25th minute but also blasted over the bar. Kipkirui did well to penetrate Chemelil Sugar's high line of defence and set Muguna through on goal but the captain was not clinical enough with his eventual shot which went off target.
The Sugar Millers, who had been kept at their own half for the majority of the first half, finally broke through but could not equalize as Frank Leon's effort narrowly missed the left upright.
Gor Mahia extended their lead in the 50th minute when Onyango volleyed the ball over Kiptoo to earn himself a brace. The second goal came a minute after Kipkirui had missed a clear chance after being put through on goal by Muguna.
Chemelil Sugar came close to scoring their first goal in the 70th minute but Richard Oti was not clinical with the ball inside Gor Mahia's box as he fumbled and let his shot go wide.
K'Ogalo extended their lead once more in the 73rd minute when Omondi unleashed an unstoppable shot that left Kiptoo well-beaten.
They scored their fourth three minutes later, as Kipkirui, who had squandered a number of chances before, tapped home following a goalmouth melee.
Chemelil Sugar had to make change their goalkeeper when Kiptoo went down injured after conceding the fourth goal. Coach Charles Odera brought Broline Opiyo in after Kiptoo could not continue even after medical attention.
Gor Mahia now have 35 points - one behind Homeboyz and two behind Tusker FC - and will play Bandari in their next league assignment. Chemelil Sugar, who have picked up just a single win this season, will welcome Sofapaka on January 25.
