Before hip-hop stars and well-dressed influencers became the de facto faces of trailblazing personal style, that duty was mostly reserved for rock stars. And we're not just talking about the bell bottom-wearing legends of the '70s. Ask anyone who grew up listening to 1990s-era rock 'n' roll, and you'll likely hear about Liam Gallagher's circular spectacles, football jerseys, and unusually deep closet of Stone Island gear. The legendary British rocker and former Oasis singer has always kept a simple-yet-stylish wardrobe: think cool sportswear mixed with low-key streetwear—and almost-always worn with Adidas sneakers. Gallagher has never been shy about his love for the Three Stripes, and now he's teaming up with the brand on a limited-edition sneaker.
Gallagher's signature kicks are dubbed the "LG SPZL," a brand-new silhouette based on the classic Padiham Spzl, an under-the-radar shoe that's nonetheless a cult favorite among Adidas loyalists. The minimalist-leaning sneaker features a cream-colored suede upper with tonal leather detailing. However, there are a few bold details at play: Gallagher's face is stamped on the tongue in black (à la Stan Smith) and "LG SPZL" is printed in gold on the side of the sneaker. The covetable sneaker release ahead of Gallagher's new album, Why Me? Why Not?, which is due out in September.
