Manchester United transfer news: Andreas Granqvist says Red Devils move is ‘99.9 per cent’ not happening
The Sweden captain has been linked with a shock Old Trafford switch
Andreas Granqvist has all but ruled out joining Manchester United during the January transfer window.
Granqvist, the defender, was linked with a shock move to Old Trafford earlier this year with Jose Mourinho, the Man United manager, keen to improve his squad’s defence.
A loan deal for Granqvist was mooted, with the 33-year-old former Wigan player seen as the perfect short-term option for the Red Devils.
However, the player himself has downplayed any chance a move to Old Trafford being completed next month.
Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Granqvist said: “With 99.9 per cent certainty, we can kill the speculation here and now.
“It would be quite sensational, but I don’t think it will happen. Then I do not know if I want to. It’s with Helsinborgs I want to be.”
Granqvist emerged as a target of Man United’s following his excellent displays for Sweden at the World Cup. The veteran centre-back captained his nation to the quarter-finals, scoring two goals in group stage defeats of South Korea and Mexico.
