Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson’s Champions League ‘heroics’ against Napoli mocked by rival fans on Twitter
The Brazil international made a crucial save in stoppage time, but was it as good as people made it out to be?
Alisson’s stop at the feet of Arkadiusz Milik in stoppage time of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Napoli was dramatic, to say the least.
After countless spurned opportunities, it looked for a split second as though the Reds would be playing in the Europa League as the ball fell kindly to Milik in Liverpool’s six yard box with the score still just 1-0.
However, the second-most expensive goalkeeper in the world leapt at the Poland international’s feet to stop his shot and effectively secure safe passage to the Champions League knockout stages.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp called the ‘keeper a ‘lifesaver’ and seeing the ball rebound away from the net produced the loudest cheer of the evening from the Kop.
But some fans on Twitter were less than convinced about the former Roma man’s ‘heroics’, which ensured Liverpool progressed to the Champions League knockout stages.
In fact, plenty of bemused fans believed the shot was poor – rather than the save being brilliant.
