Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 Liverpool: Tony Cascarino ‘hates’ Neymar and says he’s the ‘most disliked player in the world’
Tony Cascarino has told talkSPORT he ‘hates’ the way Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar acts on the pitch despite his unquestionable quality as a player.
The former Chelsea striker says the Brazilian is more talented than legends Rivaldo and Ronaldinho, but lets himself down with his constant theatrics.
Neymar is one of the world’s most recognised footballers, and yet is loathed by a large proportion of supporters.
He won over few fans with his conduct at the World Cup, where he made more headlines for his bad behaviour than for his brilliance with the ball.
And he did his reputation no favours in PSG’s Champions League clash against Liverpool on Wednesday, but that will matter little to him after he helped the French champions claim a 2-1 win.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp hit out at the Brazilian and the PSG team over their ‘unsportsmanlike’ conduct during the game, as they succeeded with their plan to wind up Liverpool players by constantly playing for fouls.
And, asked for his view on Thursday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Cascarino claimed Neymar is the most disliked player in world football.
“PSG are very good at deception, and certainly Neymar,” the former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland star said.
“Whether you want to associate that with cheating or not, they do it brilliantly.
“Do I hate it? Yes.
“Do I hate Neymar at times? Yes, he drives me absolutely crazy, but boy what a player there is in there as well.
“If you had a poll for the most disliked player in the world, he would win it hands down.
“But also I think we forget that lad is so talented, that’s why it’s so disappointing.
“I’ve saw Rivaldo and Ronaldinho play and they are two fantastic players, but Neymar has got more than them.
“And they would cheat, but not as much as this one, and that’s a bad reflection of football.”
