talkSPORT host Adrian Durham struggles to take Tottenham seriously as a football club after PSV result
The north Londoners managed to get just 47,000 fans into Wembley stadium to see them beat the Dutch club 2-1, with the pitch still looking worse for wear
Adrian Durham has questioned Tottenham Hotspur’s legitimacy as a football club after being left less than impressed with their Champions League win against PSV Eindhoven.
Spurs found themselves a goal down in front of just 46,588 fans at Wembley on Tuesday night, before Harry Kane struck twice to secure their first group stage victory of the season.
However, with the pitch still left in a state of disarray, Durham attacked the ‘mismanagement’ by the club’s officials. Although there has been progress this week with the new stadium, the talkSPORT Drive host was still left incensed by what he saw at Spurs.
“Spurs in the Champions League, I thought this was supposed to be their promised land?” he asked on Drivetime.
“Fans couldn’t be bothered to go, pitch was terrible again. It’s all because of Spurs’ mismanagement.
“And yet we are meant to take them seriously as a football club? There’s a lot wrong.
“Somebody Tweeted me today saying ‘You’ve got to hand it to them after last night, they went 1-0 down last night and could have easily have crumbled.’
“Really…Spurs? If they are in a situation where they easily crumble at home to PSV when they take the lead then Spurs have massive, massive problems.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men will travel to Barcelona for their next game in Group B of an extremely tight group, before facing Inter Milan in London for the chance to potentially finish second in the group.
However, their current predicament has left Durham almost lost for words.

In fact, the broadcaster questioned whether or not the Lilywhites are close to reaching the next level.
He continued: “So I’m looking at this thinking ‘Tottenham Hotspur; they’re third in that group, and it is a difficult group, but this is meant to be Spurs going onto another level.
“And they are struggling to get past PSV, couldn’t even beat them away!”
