There are three kinds of women in this world: The kind who don’t wear makeup; the kind who own their camera-ready, full-face; and the kind who put on layers of strategically placed concealer and tell people they don’t have a lick of anything on. I’m of the third party.
I’m the queen of convincing myself that I woke up like this, which, as of this week, is officially out of control thanks to a new curling wand that has somehow convinced me I have the natural beach waves of my dreams.
The T3 Whirl Trio landed on my desk a few days ago, in a cluster of neat little white boxes. The base works with three interchangeable wands: a tapered stick (for soft waves), a 1-inch straight barrel (for bouncy curls), and—the secret to my delusional newfound natural waves—a 1.5-inch straight wand.
I’m going to be honest with you, I haven’t even made it to the two other wands yet—the 1.5-inch barrel is working some kind of magic that I can’t possibly deny myself. I’m a selfish beauty editor with no self-control.
Because the barrel doesn’t have a clamp, you have to wrap your hair around it, holding the end of each hair section in your fingertips for a few seconds before releasing. This method is the secret to the natural look, the one that I’ve started convincing myself is actually the hair I was meant to have.
Somehow the barrel takes my long, messy, wavy hair and turns it into the tousled, voluminous strands of my dreams. Seriously, my hair looks way thicker, particularly throughout the mid-section.
The barrel technique takes a bit of getting used to, but practice makes perfect—and with waves this good right off the bat, I’m willing to put in the work. Trust us, you will be too.
